I'd check the manual as see if the tubes are self biasing (some amp designs have this feature) If so, buy a solid matched set and don't run the amp till they are replaced. I'd also give the amp a nose test.

I use xlr-¼" from the s-converts to the proamp. Both amps are plugged into the same power strip. When I unplug the input to the amp, the hum disappears, and the hum is stronger with the s-convert in-line, however the hum exists without the s-convert as well. :scratch: I even switched the amp that hums with a similar proamp, with no difference.

Jun 17, 2013 · On the back of the subwoofer and amp casings, there may be a switch to define the ground or defer to another ground – if that’s the case, make the subwoofer the ground. If this option is not available, buy a “ground loop isolator” and plug it into the subwoofer. Define the ground and the hum should disappear.
The way to reduce this hum to an acceptable level is to incase all of the guitar's electrics in a metal box and earth that box. That way all the interference will be cancelled out to earth before becoming a nusance.

Jan 18, 2015 · If the amplifier has a volume control at its input and changing the volume level results in a corresponding change in the noise level, that’s another strong indicator that the noise is coming from the source. The only thing you can do about this (short of getting a better source) is to reduce the amplifier’s gain, if you can.

Inspect the amplifier for obvious signs of damage. Turn off the power and unplug the amplifier from the power supply. Remove the rear panel from the amplifier using a screwdriver. If you can see any loose parts or parts that have become completely detached, this may be the cause of the problem.
